A little about us…

We are Mel & Shan – An everyday couple who had reached a point in life where we did not recognise ourselves anymore. Going through the daily motions, both in jobs we didn’t want and telling ourselves this is life. 

In 2018 we had a month across Italy and Spain and this was the shift we needed. We spent our days exploring, living in the moment, experiencing life, savouring the delicious food, watching the sunsets and admiring a way of life that was pure joy in its simplicity, and we loved who we were in those moments.

Moments. 

We realised that is where the magic is. By being present, letting yourself feel and truly be in the moment. We wanted more moments, together, exploring and experiencing living, not just existing and in a way that felt authentic to us. We embarked on our travel journey around Australia in January 2020 in our Cub camper trailer and Ford Ranger.

After 3 years of travelling we were after a change and craving a base and in early 2023 we settled into life in Adelaide, got a rental, returned to corporate jobs and set about making a home base but something was missing. In hindsight we were probably quite naive to think we could return to the 9-5 life after experiencing travel life for 3 years.

We found our conversations were regularly about travel life and the freedom we missed. One evening one of these chats turned into a planning session to get back on the road. The call of the open road and this lifestyle was too strong, and in December 2024 we said goodbye to Adelaide and returned to full time travel. This time we have upgraded the set up to include a caravan and a newer Ford Ranger but the path we are following is still very much one of Seek True North.

That is what drives us each day – to follow our internal compass. Stay true to it. Seek True North for us is travelling, exploring, surrounded by nature, and experiencing all that travel life has to offer.

Seeking True North is a personal journey and will be different for everyone but this is our story, and we hope you can take inspiration from our approach and experiences to embark on your own self journey and path of Seek True North.
